i preordered the game on steam and though it was released today, the download has not become available. it says it will be available in 4 hours, but it has said that all morning. anyone know what's going on with this?

also, feel free to discuss your experiences with the game.

I'm downloading it from direct2drive right now. No waiting periods or messing with steam.

Already playing it on 360, can't say I'm hugely impressed. I put it down after a week because GOW2 came out :D

WTF? Since when does the UK get games made in the US first? Or do you have some kind of connection?

This one has been called "Oblivion with guns". Fallout it ain't, but Oblivion was fun as hell, so w/e.

FPS/RPGish shit if you don't know about Oblivion.

granted, i've only played for about an hour, just got out of the vault, but it seems pretty fallout-ish to me.

This is about where I am. I just got out of the "training area" you could say and am finally out and about. Lots of NPC's to talk to and investigate. It's definitely not going to just be a shoot-em-up. I like it so far. Just wish i didn't have 2 exams to study for.

I've been seeding this one since 3 oclock this morning, but for some reason my upload is really slow, like 51 kb/s.

reloaded works great. So far I really like this game, I'll probably buy it.

Anyone else really like the VATS system?

That gets old fast, especially after the 50th time and you start to get multiple enemies at once.

Even the BOOM HEADSHOT VAT isn't all that.

sweet. I was getting frustraed because the game was hard as crap for a little bit. No ammo, and the aiming was really sluggish. But I think I got the hang of it now, because I'm killing raiders with almost no problems.

I usually use vats to try and take them out from a distance, then sneak until I get close enough to use vats and kill them before they even get a shot off.

The perks are really sweet, but I usually get overhwlmed at the skills page. there is so much to point all of those points into, I get kinda lost.

this post contains spoilers: (but they are from really early on concerning megaton...in case you were afraid I was going to ruin something)

So I'm trying to play a good character, I told the sherriff about Burke, and burke shot and killed the sherriff. Is this going to effect my reward for disarming the bomb?

Also, Springdale school....is there a point to this place, or is it just a random dungeon? I cleaned the place out, but never found a named raider. I just used console unlock to open the door to the big hole. Went down there and killed a crap load of giant ants, but hit a dead end. Is there anyway to get further, or is that where the map ends?

It has a oblivion/Bioshock feel to it.

This was literally the first thing I did getting out of the vault and by luck stumbling onto Megaton.

I really, really, really love this game so far. My only gripe is that it's a little too Oblivion and not Fallout-y enough. Even still, it's a great game on it's own merits. Love it. The gunplay feels just right.

Does it get better out of the vault? I felt like the game was missing something. It felt a little too much like Stalker. A pretty game that felt overly "clunky". All the physics feel really dated, and the world seems off to me. I'm not sure why I'm not into it so far.

Picked it up impulsively for the PC yesterday during my break. Great game and it runs/looks awesome too. I love the opening story in the vault

Who killed the overseer? I did!

I just stood in the water and drank it until I got it. It has a cool side effect if you are doing it as part of the Megaton chicks thing.

Is there a way to get faster travel, like a motorcycle or something?
