So downloaded the FEAR demo last night since i had been eharing all the talk about how great it was if you had an awesome machine, grpahics card, etc. So after a few hours of downloading last night finally got to play it this morning and all i can say is just...wow. This game has combined like every single element of the best games out there. The control of BF2, the weapons of Quake, the cool time dilation feature of Max Payne, and the graphics are pretty wow. Even on my 7800GT there are blips at 1024x768. Theres a couple funny things like soda machines which look like crap but most everything else from enemies to rooms look really nice. Now all this pales in comparison to the story line. This has to be about one of the freakiest games i have EVER played. You start out against simple enemeis but then ghosts start showing up outta nowhere freaking the shit outta ya. I had to stop cause my heart was pounding so hard at one point. Definately giving this demo of a game a 10/10...if the full version packs in everything this demo has and more than it mgiht be a game i actually have to go out and buy.
How is it barely playable Joker? I've got a 2400 at 2600, 1 GB of Ram (2 512's in dual channel) and a 9800 Pro 128, and I can play it smooth as butter.
I play at 1024x768 with most settings on high and my 6800GT holds up pretty well. Just the odd slowdown here and there.
I'm able to play at 1024x768 with everything cranked to the max, with my P4 3.2, 1GB, and X800 Pro. SWEET!
fear of FEAR Man, I'd really like to try this game, but the high specs put me off. I also tried downloading the single player demo (twice!) and the damn thing(s) wouldn't work. They wouldn't delete easily, either. I had to crowbar them off.
I got the demo like few days ago played it once and this is what I will do. I will buy the full version. AND THERE ISNT ONE GOD DAMNED THING THAT CAN STOP ME FROM DOING IT
i can barely play it with a pentium4 3.0 1 gig ram and 6800. Options are all the way up but still i cant stand turning down the settings. Pretty neat game, liked how that little girl from the ring comes walkin across at that one part.
I had the demo going on my Barton @ 2.2Ghz, 1Gb DDR400 and o/c'ed 6800 at 1024 and medium settings and it all ran pretty smoothly.
All of you who are having crap performance, make sure your Antialiasing and Soft Shadows is turned OFF. Soft shadows kills the game and shows no visual difference.
eh, dont really like the game. every sound makes my ears bleed cuz it's so high pitched, even ppl talking. and the aiming sucks, it's worse than Battefield. the running gets annoying, i imagine my character running like a gimp. maybe i'd like it better if i upgraded, but doesnt seem worth it.
