Is anyone else highly anticipating the release of DOD:Source on September 26th? I am going to preload it this weekend and on Monday I'll probably not leave my room for awhile. The original DOD kicked ass and had highly addictive gameplay. Add the eye-candy and super-cool physics of the Source engine, I might have to say DOD:Source might just ruin my life.

It's part of my Silver Package, so I'll try playing it as soon as it's ready, to see how badly they've butchered it...

Argh! Now I KNOW how botched it's going to be. They just updated HL2/CS:S with the new engine, and it's just about wrecked a lot of folks systems, and messed up others like mine with wrong settings and bad network behavior...

    well, im dissapointed.

the gameplay is great. the graphics are great.

but its laggy, even with low pings, and i cannot get the fucking game to run for more than 5 minutes without crashing.

why would valve even bother releaseing a game that is so buggy?

A superb game, indeed. The transparent bubble around the kill confirmations is kinda annoying

My favorite part is having to dump this string in my launch options:

    -dxlevel 81 -width 800 -height 600 +mat_antialias 2 +mat_monitorgamma 1.6

Since my not-very-DX9 card will only play HL2 well in DX 8.1 mode, and the update fudged up the card-detection, so I have to put this stuff in manually.

J/K The screenshots look nice. I'll have to get up earlier in the morning so I can give it a whirl.
