A face mask covered in faces... I fail to see the logic in that...

If you carry that to the extreme, with the faces wearing facemasks with faces wearing facemasks with faces wearing... etc, your mask is going to end up kind of resembling a Coronavirus itself... :D

Great to see that everyone is still kicking!

My wife made a bunch of masks to donate through the company that I work for, since we started a foundation as a company to assist in crisis like this. My wife made me a mask, and made it from fabric with tons of tiny bats on the print. I have yet to try boarding one of the Naval bases or a ship wearing that, but I'll let you all know if I get jumped and arrested. lol

Heh. If anyone asks, just look at them and dramatically say "I'm Batman." ;)

I'm glad bought my supply of N95's last fall. It gets impossible to find any when the forest fires start up every year. I got in the habit of stocking a years supply every November.
I'm also glad I'm used to wearing them for work. It doesn't seem to bother me as much as other people to have one on.

I've just made mine from abdominal wound dressings, using my awesome origami superpower, lots of staples, and an elastic cloth band, to make a mask to fit my face. I went with the "around the back of my neck" method, since I can't stand elastic bands trying to pull my ears off while I wear glasses...

Luckily when we visited the US back in Feb we grabbed a few N95's from my dad. Living in the Middle East it hasn't been too bad, the country we reside in is very precautious and has one of the best responses. It's an island so that makes things a little easier.

Well damn, I haven't forgotten about this place, but adult life grabs you by the balls... Can I have a refund?

I think balls are nonrefundable items... How's life been treating you? Tickling them? Or trying to rip them out at the roots?

I'm going with the "rip them out by the roots" for myself. I'm hoping everyone else get the "tickle" treatment.
Glad to hear from all the long lost folks.

At this point it's go full fist around the roots and get your back into it. Life has been... good? Working as a paramedic for the last 5 years. Now I live in North Carolina, and married a southern bell. I've been off the amberlamps since December (due to a now mostly healed back injury) and working as a supervisor for the COVID-19 response for the capital county of NC with a staff of 50-60 working under me.

It's good to see some old faces, I hope life has been kind?

    Wait, what?!

Granted I didn't know him in person, and it's been a while... but he always seemed like a joker.

Fuck. I hate when people take permanent solutions to temporary problems. RIP.

I think this is one of the funniest things about modern apps/sites. People seemed to lose their shit a couple years ago and proudly announce they have a Discord channel for always on, instant communication! It’s IRC in a new wrapper.
    JZL says thanks for this.

Yeah, no kidding. The close-knit group with whom I still chat started waaay back in the IRC days. We went from IRC to Facebook Messenger (briefly) and then Discord. I've known most of these guys almost 20 years now. I'm thinking Tweak had a fairly active IRC chan back in the day.(?)

Some would argue that we spent too much time back then. It was a good time. The world has done a bit of changing in 21 years.

    Zombie bump.

I realize I haven't come here in so long, let alone post in almost 10 years.

I still get google analytics emails about this place, but what made me come back was an email from Gmail that they couldn't deliver a message from chapel@tweak3d.net which I no longer have access to, but get emails forwarded to my main email... might want to check that out @tweakmonkey or whoever has access to the tweak3d email accounts. I can't remember much from then.

    My little update:
I have been a software engineer professionally since 2011, though it wasn't until 2013 that I went "corporate" and moved to California.

I worked for Walmart Labs for a few years. I got a job offer from Pebble the former company that made smartwatches, worked there for over a year, and got acquihired into Fitbit. Have been working there since then until last month when the deal between Google and Fitbit went through and as of 2/1, I am now a Google employee.

I married my wife a few years ago but we have been together since 2011. We are expecting a baby girl June. We have a wonderful dog named Buzz, he is a mix of Formosan Mountain Dog and German Shepherd. In September we also got a kitten named Gracie. Wild times ahead adding a baby.

@tweakmonkey we should connect sometime once COVID isn't as much of a concern, not sure where you're living now but I am in the East Bay, north of Union City now.
