Yes, having 4 kids doesn't help.

My oldest son joined a team that broke away from the local soccer club, and have big plans to do tournaments (basically a traveling team) but wowser...like a tournament/exhibition setup twice a month, and all out of town as we have zero indoor facility for us now. Going to have to bow out of some of those for him. Plus he's in a Vancouver Whitecaps Prospect camp every Sunday for 8 weeks, so he and 2 other kids from his current soccer team look to be the better ones out of it.

My younger son finally got picked up by basketball club team. Unfortunately, there is no Grade 4 league in our city so the next best thing is tournaments. Where are all the tournaments? Dickinson ND for the one this coming weekend (which we can't go to as it was too last minute...he just joined the team LAST weekend) and then Bismarck ND in December...that's 5 hour drive just to play 2 or 3 games. I may have to take a day off just to get us there. But bball is his thing. Out of all the kids I've seen him play against and practice with, he's head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of ability. When he hits his growth spurt and gets into Grade 6...oh boy. I'm 6-foot-4 and he's going to be a beast.

Is it bad that I'm hoping that at least two of my kids get lucrative contracts with professional sports teams so that it all pays off in the long run? LOL

Just wait, and you'll get payback when their kids drain their bank accounts in turn, and you'll get to enjoy the grandkids without care! ;)

Later in life, the wife becomes the biggest bill.

    She's already expensive. LOL

We are already tapping into the bank of grandma and grandpa for my daughter's ballet/jazz expenses. Just dumb to say the least.

Just be joyful they are healthy.
The wife and I are in that age when health is going the way of the dodo. I no sooner got my emphysema under control to where I can make it through a work day, then the wife got diagnosed with cancer. Paying your bills in much preferable (imho) than paying the parasitic medical system in the USA. It seems like there's no end to one thing or the other sucking the life out of us no matter what stage of adulthood we are in. ;)

My kid just finally told me she doesn't like her ballet/tap class. Thanks for telling me after we dropped like 500 bucks on your boredom!

Also, fuck cancer and getting old. It's a load of crap.

Sorry to hear that, wiskas. A rare form of drug-resistant cancer took one of my co-workers (a guy I've known for 12+ years) away from work. Unfortunately, they didn't find out about the drug-resistant part until after they tried starting chemo. Doubtful he'll see Christmas, which really sucks, but we're hoping for him!

Nameless, my daughter is all over the map. She's in 4 different dance classes at her studio, joined the school choir and the school drama club, and wants to play bball when it starts up in January (I think).

Bball is a heck of a lot cheaper than dance. So keeping my fingers crossed!
