Yep, tomorrow I fly out of Kathmandu, through Delhi, Chicago and into Seattle. Come in 11am, Friday the 13th.

The trip has kicked ass. Just amazing, better than anything I could have predicted. But I'm tired and ready to come home now.

I did however get some bad news yesterday: work is so slow I don't have a job to come home to like I thought.... meaning once I have to go home and have pay rent again, it would be cheaper to just stay traveling. Honestly if I'd known this before yesterday I might have extended my trip and not come home. Bummed about that.

But yep, home. I told my parents to have my place clean, and to have brownies, a gallon of milk and a 12-pack of Rainier Beer in the fridge.

I'm having a big champagne Sunday brunch at my place for my friends which will be awesome, and I'll have to make the rounds seeing my family as well after that.

Number one goal when I get home: detox/purification and getting back in shape. Looking forward to my weight room and sauna.

    Home.... home.... home..... huh.

Detox? From what? Shouldn't everything you have been doing been natural?

Epic trip fiddy. Have a safe flight back.

Have you really been that out of shape? One would think the opposite after witnessing all your outings.

I think he means detox as getting used to not doing all the cool shit he's been doing.

I kinda wondered about your job. I've known some other folks who've taken extended sabbaticals and came home to work being "slow". I wouldn't worry about it too much though, as you've just discovered even working a menial job here in the states you are a very rich man. :)

EDIT: Meaning to say if you had to get a menial job, Starbucks or whatever.

I mean detox like get back to a good healthy diet, stop drinking so much beer, that kind of thing. TAKE A SAUNA. It's hard to get a solid diet with good fruits, veggies, etc often times, or when you are on a bus and are eating fried food on the roadside. And hell yah I got out of shape! Going from a job like mine and working out on top of that to spending days and days on the beach, just walking around towns, eating tons of cheap, delicious local food. I've been active here more in periods, like the periods of rock climbing or hiking, but mostly it's just chilling or riding buses or something.

As for my layover in Chicago, I don't think I have time to make it out of the airport, but thanks for the offer.

Yah the work situation is a bummer, but there is no conspiracy ( :p ), I know I'd be hired right back if we had the work, it's just stupid slow right now for who knows why.

I am having an amazing last day though. Today went to the cremation ghats, then just hanging out with friends. Right now we are at dinner.

It's mad slow for all the property services and trades. Moreso than all other years. It usually picks up immediately after tax day, but not this year. It's really not looking good.

    Huh.

Good thing the banks and credit cards keep my job going. Currently organizing, maintaining, and supporting over 1000 lanes across all sorts of stores (grocery and petrol).

So keeping the customer happy is always a HUGE thing.

I don't mind short flights (<5 hours), but this sounds like torture. Next time I go to Hawaii I've already decided we're going to spend a day or two each way in California just to break things up.

    Well, the ball is rolling.

I left Kathmandu a few hours ago after a nice morning/afternoon with some friends, now I am in the Delhi airport with a 5 hour layover until I leave at 12:30 in the morning to fly all the way to Chicago.

And yah, it's a fucking weird feeling going home.

Once you get back and have decompressed a while I'd very much like to hear how your trip has affected you, any ways it might change your plans or the way you live your life. I would imagine such an adventure would have a massive impact on that sort of thing.

You mean this trip isn't ending in a decrepit bus in the Alaskan wilderness with you starving to death?

jk. Glad you're returning safe and sound. Thanks for documenting the trip :)

Lol, we had to watch that movie for our Written Communications class. The entire time I couldn't help but think how naive the main character (Alexander Supertramp?) was. Obviously if you're ill prepared to live in the Alaskan bush you're going to die, don't know how he didn't see that coming.

Anyways, I bet it'll feel good/weird to be back, Fiddy. Too bad your layover in Chicago doesn't leave you with any time, I'd come meet you at the airport, then me, you, and ivanolo could take my whip or hop the train a little farther into the city, and treat you to some greasy, unhealthy, "welcome back to America/welcome to the Midwest" lunch/dinner. :]
