Stephen Colbert: I am running for president - CNN.com

I just saw this on the news and looked it up online. It seems pretty real. I wonder how far it will go. I'd imagine he'd get the young vote and the vote of all the people that throw their vote away just to go against the big two candidates. Is there even a 10% chance that he could actually win? I'd love to find out.

I dunno, an Improv comedian for President?

The only reason why he has any involvement today in politics is because Comedy Central had him work for the Daily Show while he had free time during the filming of Strangers with Candy.

The guy is pretty narcissistic if you ask me, granted he does a good job of covering it with his dry humor. In my opinion, this is just for him to see how many followers he could get to waster their vote for the '08 election.

I guess tallying t.v. ratings aren't good enough for him.

Why not, at least we'd laugh because it's funny, rather than laugh to keep from crying.

Don't get me wrong, I would embrace all career backgrounds, and I think that true genius can be found in a truly original comedian. I just don't think Colbert is in this for the right reasons.

I mean, granted he's the host of a very popular, political satire show, Comedy Central really had a lot more to do with the molding of his career than I think most people believe.

I think the whole point to his running, is to exclaim to the world, that USA politics is nothing more than a big joke. It seems like a statement, one that's been made before when Pat Paulsen ran in '68

he portrays characters who are narcissists well, but i don't think he's a narcissist by any means, it's just his brand of humor. you think anyone would seriously plug their book that much on a show and seriously do it because they are narcissists? he's making fun of himself, and in turn republicans, by acting the way he is.

that being said there's no way he's being elected president.

There's a fraction of truth in all humor.
