So I have a imprint unit for an alpine 9887, and my friend has a jbl ms8, my question is
yeah your supposed to set your curves in a quiet place..
but is the engine supposed to be on or off?

i was afraid of killing my battery with the engine off.. and with the engine on, if your car needs motor mounts or something,
how is the eq going to compensate?

or would i have to keep redoing it, till i get it right, with windows down, windows up, car running, etc..

yes i will try to do my mounts soon.

everyone is going to say "engine off", but personally i would give it a shot with the engine on since that is how you will be listening 99% of the time
(the eq could freak out and overcompensate due to engine noise though, there is a chance)

yeah i'll try it both ways, whatever sounds better will be clear winner i guess

now would a sub in a sealed box + a powered subwoofer be a bad idea?

Engine off, windows up. ...make sure you have all your rattles and non-speaker noise taken care of before you do it. Make sure you have any gain, crossover and what not settings on an amp...make sure they are set correctly before doing anything too.

If you're worried about killing your battery just throw a charger on it while you do the test...

My yellow top can push my system for 2+ hours at pretty high volume before it runs out of juice...so I think you'll be fine lol

I'd take a quality sealed box sub with a decent amp over a powered sub any day of the week...never been to pleased with any powered sub i've heard.
