The media is running this story as "woman shoots 12 year old boy" trying to make her sound like a psychopath. It should be "68 year old woman hit in chest with BRICK, shoots punk in self defense"

The kid had been running around breaking into houses, setting fires, etc. I for one am glad the little punk got shot. Maybe he will learn his lesson and we will wind up having one less person in jail.

She has not been charged and the boy was charged with assault. The justice system actually does work, on occasion. I don't feel bad at all....

Thoughts?

A brick can be concidered a 'deadly weapon'. IMHO: the charge should have been assault w/deadly weapon. fucking lib media.

What in the fuck does the "liberal media" have to do with the charges filed against the kid??? I didn't know the "liberal media" ran the judicial system in America...

Anyways, damn kids... get off my lawn.... and whatnot....

I believe wiskas was talking about the "lib media" playing this up as ShadowWolf put it, "woman shoots 12 year old boy" when in reality she was defending herself. His 'lib media' comment was not about the actual charges being placed.

This seems to be more about the city of Chicago which has some messed up anti-gun laws IIRC.

What's stupid, is letting a lable like "liberal" or "lib" blind a segment of the population. It's not a personal attack on anyone.
Besides, I said "lib media", not "liberal media". And what's so stupid about having something to say whenever the media goes on the offensive about
constitutional rights like the second ammendment? (amungst others) It isn't the "conservative media" or "libertarian media" that takes any and all oportunities to take potshots at gun ownership. There's no need to be insulting.

I hate slanted news regardless which way it leans. Which sucks, because it's tough to find impartiality these days.

There is so such thing as the "liberal media" in the mainstream. It is a lie created by the right-wing elite to make average right-wingers feel like victims who need saving by the elite right.

In particular, read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_model

And this video explains a few things as well:

And I wasn't calling anyone stupid, just a the statement that was absurd, since when I questioned it I got no answer, just provocation. Wiskas, I thought you knew better than to buy into the lies of the Fox News right wing.

That video really had me thinking, until about 3:20. It's absurd to say that a media outlet with say 80% liberal journalists wouldn't naturally have a liberal slant, however slight. The analogy of workers in an automotive factory not making decisions about what cars are manufactured was likewise absurd. The office personnel and leadership work for the same company, and they DO make those decisions. So yeah, the media hound riding around in the news van doesn't control content, but after 20 years of promotions he certainly will. Also, this video was in and of itself entirely slanted to the left! There was a single dissenting opinion, which is as about as ironic as you can get.

LOL, when you watch the weather, and the weather person says 'it's going to be sunny', do you get pissed when no one comes on to say 'it is going to rain' too?

When it comes to something like the weather there's really not much point in a dissenting opinion. Lousy analogy.

But all joking aside, I have an uber-conservative friend who refuses to watch the Weather Channel because she claims it has a liberal slant. They acknowledged global warming and climate change, which of course is a liberal conspiracy...

My point is not everything is a two party debate. Why would a documentary on NORM CHOMSKY and his ideas have someone breaking in every sentence and disagreeing??

And as you point out with your Weather Channel buddy, facts are totally political as well, and that is nonsense. Ok, a fact example. Should every educational film on dinosaurs have some evangelist talking about how the fossil record is all lies, and the earth is only 6000 years old? Of course not. That is not how things are done, other than for stupid debates on TV for ratings. For you to use that criticism against a youtube clip I posted is absurd. That is what I am trying to get at.

Why would you post a video about Norm Chomsky to prove a point about liberal media bias being a myth? What the fuck is he going to say? That would be like me posting a video by Anne Coulter to prove something wasn't conservatively biased.

I stand corrected. I'll rephrase: "the fix everything that doesn't need fixing, anti-second amendment, be-your-brother's-keeper, any excuse whatsoever to vilify gun ownership, dupe the general population that hasn't the inteligence and/or motivation to use thier thinking aparatus into letting the government outlaw guns and the whole world will be projected into a constant ongoing orgasm acrost the universe" media.
For the record, I do not watch fuax news, or CNN, or network news. I don't like even posting anything from MSNBC. I don't read our local newspaper becuase of a huge utopian, disneyland slant and vain attempts to be artsy fartsy rather than just simple news report writing.
It just saved alot of typing to write "lib(erated from fact and reality) media". Now would anyone have felt like their buttons were pushed had I said "con media"? BTW, I have no right or left slant, I get to sit in the middle and watch all the silly games on the perifery.
Yes, I did pull ponytails and pigtails when I was in 1st and 2nd grade. If they yelped, I pulled them a second time. I can't help myself :unibrow:
