... and it's fucking awesome. Great atmosphere, pretty decent story. I'm not sure how far I am through it; I'd guess around a third-halfway or so, ten hours in. How do you guys like it?

I really want to get it. I'm skeptical of dishing out the money for it right now, though.

What's up with all these widescreen issues? Apparently, there's no true widescreen support. Just a zoomed-in 4:3 ratio with cut-off top and bottom (unacceptable). I hear the PC version is crashtastic too.

Ugh. It must be popular, because I was entirely unable to log into steam last night.

I got my copy yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to even open the box yet. Hopefully tonight, otherwise I have tomorrow off.

It's an awesome game. I bought it for 360. I don't know if that has widescreen issues, but it's doing widescreen on my monitor with the 2 bands across the top and bottom. The game is amazing.

I put in about 6 hours into the 360 version last night. Great game so far.

Mine is working, 1366X768 real 16:9, everything on max....no hickups yet. All I have to say about DX10 graphics is "oh my gawd!" I thought I was still in a high end cut scene and I was actually in the gameplay. I've waited along time for these kinds of graphics....Yes! I'd like to see a remake of 'Hellbender' with these graphics. did you guys d/l the patch while doing the install?

With most games, going from a 4:3 image to a 16:9 you will gain more picture on the sides of the screen. This game however works in the opposite, 4:3 renders more viewing area by means of adding a section to the top and bottom.

Everyone is getting it all confused, thinking the game is rendering the whole image, cropping it, and stretching it to fill a 16:9 screen. This is not the case. The developers say throughout development everything was made to be viewed good in 16:9, and the 4:3 was done to simply fill the screen out, yet not lose the field of view as it was originally intended to be played.

Yeah, that's called a corporate excuse. It's not true widescreen. They're justifying their laziness. Same thing happened with 2142.

Yup. DX10 is a Vista marketing ploy: you have to have Vista to run DX10, despite the proven fact that DX10 can and will run on XP, if you hack it up...

It is not an excuse, its called the best way to handle full screen resolutions while keeping the same fov. It is like a movie, they are captured on film at 4:3 and then cropped to the directors vision which is usually widescreen. Instead of having two completely different rendering modes (yeah thats what it would require to do it the way you want it done) they just add more to the screen for fs users. Battlefield 2 and 2142 was just stupid, they didn't support widescreen natively and cropped the view and skewed the hud. The difference is that in bioshock they made the game for widescreen and just adjusted the view for fullscreen.

If people cant get over this, they need to go die in a fire, it is such a moot argument, that people can only find such a stupid thing like this as a problem with the game. I don't know if you have played a fullscreen game where it got the cropped widescreen view? Totally messes up your fov, vertical space is not as valuable as horizontal space, that is the truth.

I can confirm the PC version is fucked up. I have NO MOUSE in the game! I have to alt-tab and manually close out the process.

I'm running the latest ATI drivers on my X800 w/ all the latest windows updates.

I have heard that you need at least a x1000+ or 7x00 to play the game. But then again I really only care about the console version which I know will work. Hope you can fix your issues Undertaker, its an awesome game.

Game runs great for me. 1024x768 everything maxed on my 3200+ w/ 1.5gb ram and 8800gts. No problems or glitches found yet. This game kicks some serious ass.

full game runs great on both my friends systems

I gotta say hacking gets old REALLY fast. Also, I'm having a love/hate relationship with the way the game handles death. I like that you just revive almost like it's deathmatch, but I also feel like it was an excuse to up the difficulty level without pissing people off. Maybe I just suck, but I've been dying a lot. One level especially since it only had 2 places to buy medpacks, one that I couldn't yet get to, and another one that I had to fight a Big Daddy to get to.

I played the game for about 3 minutes on my friends x-box.

    FUCK THAT SHIT.

it was sooooooooo frustrating. On PC the game isn't THAT hard, you aim for the head and you're gravy. on 360 with the useless consol control's it makes the game 100x more difficult(atleast for me)

If you have played FPS for the 360 before it is pretty easy. I am playing on medium difficulty and havent run into any frustrating parts yet except my hacked bots shooting me in the back. If you shock them then run up and bash them in the face it is easier than shooting them.

    Were you playing on hard?

I'll admit that I'd much rather have a mouse/keyboard, but the game is pretty easy, at least on medium.

I went through killing all the little sisters on medium, and I'm going to save them all on hard on my next playthrough.

By the way, one of twists in the story gave me fucking goosebumps. Fucking awesome twist.

I'm playing the 360 version and I think my only complaint so far is that the game is way too easy. I almost always have full health/eve and I'm playing on the hardest difficulty.

Oh, and apparently you get 160 Adam for killing a Little Sister and you get 80 for rescuing one. For every third Sister you save you get a teddy bear with 200 Adam and extra items. The extra items tend to be plasmid upgrades that I'm pretty sure you can't buy. So basically for 40 less Adam you're really getting way more from rescuing them.

Figures.. I've been harvesting them all to get more Adam but I guess I should have been rescuing them. Oh well it looks cool when you harvest them. :)

Alright guys, gimme the dirt. Is this worth shelling out $50 for? (360 version) I'm contemplating purchasing it, but I just don't know yet. Is it one of those games that gets you hooked?
