It was bad for me. Somehow it turned shutting off/rebooting the computer into a 15 minute affair, where I initially thought it actually hung at the "saving your settings" part of the shutdown. (Windows XP SP3) Considering the not-rare occasions where I need (or want) to reboot, this was unacceptable. I ended up finally making the switch to Microsoft Security Essentials.

I was wondering if any of the rest of you have had a similar experience with the new version of Avira.

It was okay for me. Maybe it runs best on win7, wich requires less rebooting.

Anyways, I also switched to MSE after my last reformat.

Avira was great for me too, till the last version change last week. The 2012 version did me in. Possibly it was designed for more modern OS(..es?) than mine.
