LOL. Att sucks balls!
good thing I have an ancient, grandfathered in $5 a month unlimited data plan.
not like it was ever unlimited anyways. tell me how 5GB is unlimited again?
this is totally going backwards...in this day and age with internet music and video, we need unlimited. it's not about bandwidth, it's about money. just like comcast at home, I pay $60 for the business class to have no cap. obviously the data is going through the same cable lines. It's just about squeezing more money out of customers.
So is it confirmed you don't have a cap? And only $60 for the 12mbit? I am considering it, I just didn't want to take the plunge without more info and there isn't a lot. After this month I should have normal pricing and if its only $60 for business, I will swap over.
Oh and AT&T sucks...hehe
On a side note about this, for some users its a good thing, means they can drop their plans down to a cheaper price, but not giving a higher option is all about curbing excess data usage.
You guys are retarded. They are talking about cellphone data plans not home internet plans.
Does that make it any better? Metered internet access kills the internet and a competitor will swoop in and steal their customers. Had I bought an iPhone or iPad and had the terms changed afterward I would be pissed beyond belief.
I figured that was a given.
AT&T: All Trouble & Time-wasting. After they shafted us on both cell phones and home cable/phone/internet they can go where the sun doesn't shine.
Except existing users terms haven't been changed and those that upgraded to other smart phones would be able to keep their existing unlimited plan.
And just an FYI, when verizon launches their 4G service their plans will be capped as well.
Look at your current usage, how many people here have gone over 2GB of data on their cellphone?
And lastly, 98% of att's data users use less than 2GB of data on average on their phones, which means most will see a bill reduction with no noticeable affects.
And I really don't care if you guys hate on att, I just prefer you do it having the actual facts in hand.
Sprint FTW, the are the only nation carrier to have unlimited usage. If sprint was smart the would advertise the hell out of this.
But their reception blows goats, I live < 2 miles from world HQ and am constantly roaming. Same problem with every phone I have ever had in this area.
Sprint is making a comeback though!
Disclosure: I own sprint stock
How much is it all worth? $20?
You do realize that I brought up comcast just because I was curious, had nothing to do with the thread ultimately.
No carrier has real unlimited. If you go over an invisible limit sprint will cut you off at some time. Tmobile doesn't cut you off, after 10gb they drop your speed (well thats what some people say but its never happened to me).
Att actually did have unlimited data for it's smart phones and still does for all other phones.
wow, THAT SUCKS.
but yea every carrier DOES have an invisible limit that most dont advertise.. i think sprint is 5gb. ive never gotten anywhere NEAR 5gb on my sprint phones, but here comes the evo 4g and its going to cause a ruckus. So im expecting sprint to change that "unlimited" to something a little more... "limited"
Their own CEO hates on their network. How else do you shut down sales of a phone that cripples your network?
Where in the world do you get that 98% figure regarding user data consumption?
unless the comcast business class has some massive invisible cap that I am not aware of , no I haven't hit it. There are three dudes living in my house, all downloading video (we have no cable tv) and I have yet to hear anything. I'm pretty sure when they mean unlimited, they mean it.
Thats cool. What about speed, is the $60 for 12mb or what? Was there any additional costs or troubles switching? What is the highest you've used in a month if you know?
Sounds like a yp (your problem)
mine is 16mb. there is a cost to switch, which is stupid. they have to replace the modem with their business class gateway/router. I did like a 2 year contract so it was free or whatnot. stupid considering all I needed to do is swap routers. oh well. as far as the highest amount of bandwidth we've done. I'm not really sure as I don't monitor it. I'd have to say 500GB at one point. That's just a wild guess though as I don't really know how much my roommates use.
I checked my usage (it's built into the phone, not sure about yours) and mine was 2 GB. That was since I reset the phone last July when I went to France. !!! I don't use tethering but I do download a lot of apps and browse/email often.
I keep my phone on Wifi whenever it's an option, maybe that helps a lot. Anyway it's good that a) I don't pay for it and b) I signed up early enough to be unlimited... for now. The only reason I'd want Verizon (my preferred carrier) over AT&T is for extra phone coverage in BFE - but I drove 2000 miles last month and my AT&T phone never skipped a beat for data or voice, and when I went to France/Canada I never had problems using their carriers either. I <3 West Coast
AT&T is so awesome
Ouch! I'm glad (for now) that I switched to Sprint.
