Sometimes it's a good idea to investigate before jumping to conclusions and possibly you should consider not judging a book by your impression of its cover without considering the context.
I think there are various degrees of degradation that are possible. I would say it depends more on how long it takes for awareness to reach a point at which meaningful action becomes feasible. But we can also be a part of the solution and the speed of awareness.
I've tried for 5+ years now. It has only served to get me branded as a paranoid and crank. Nobody wants to wake up, it might require change.
Some, or many depending on your context have been trying longer than that. I'm not giving up. Certainly we are still causing damage, and as frustrating as it may be, I hope more and more we all keep trying.
^^^ Something tells me that he's either associated with the centrist website linked above, or he's a member of the party who feels it's his (or her) duty to influence the masses. *EDIT* Son of a bitch, he posted before I finished typing this! And I was correct lol *edit 2* Ok that's tripping me out. I opened the thread, read through a bit then scrolled to the bottom and replied to 950, but the time between posts is WAY more than it feels like it was. I think I blacked out for a bit thanks to all the politics.
Actually, I thought there might be an opportunity for some intelligent communication here. I may have over estimated though. The replies, assumptions, and lack of consideration indicate a general lack of interest in reasoned conversation though. If the bar doesn't rise, I will just stop posting. I actually am pretty busy.
The problem with the idea of a 'centrist party' in America is that we don't have a left or a right, we have a center and a right on any standard scale of ideology, or the Corporate Party and Corporate-Lite Party as I have taken to calling them. Half way between two bad ideas is still a bad idea.
I don't think you can call out this forums intelligence when your party website promotes a book on the front page. At least have the decency to at least tuck it in a profile page or mention it on a page promoting a seminar or something.
ninefivezero Actually, I would characterise it differently, but that is the problem with perspective as it is inherently biased. I would say we have two liberal parties. Using a per capita scale we have the liberal democrats and the even more liberal republicans. Keeping in mind that one of the definitions of liberal is to give away freely. The republican in the past ten years have given away more than during any other previous presidential term. Both of course are tied to a corporate system of control through the granted rights of corporate personhood (santa clara vs. southern pacific, buckley v. valeo, and citizens united v. fec supreme court decisions).
No my suggestion for any serious organization that is not a book retailer is to not promote their book on the front page of their website. You want to get information out there then make it free. Since I'm too lazy to bother loading your site on my iPad, are you a registered party or just hoping to be one? Also your definition of liberalism is incongruent with both classical and modern liberalism.
First, it's not my definition, it's from a dictionary definition. Second, in my usage the connotation fits. ... or do you think that the world revolves around your interpretation of everything? Third your propensity to belittle others and their efforts from an anonymous position is hardly what I would call honorable or substantial. What is your full name?
I must admit though that I like your description of corporate and corporate-lite for its illustrative and meaningful representation. The special interest influence is certainly over the top. The Centrist Party is not half way between these two ideas or the left or the right. The Centrist Party is not premised on moderation.
and you did well! by cause I meant that your post wasn't a proof of our excellent debating skills as a group. And from which movie is that quote?
idiocracy. And I'll have you know, I am a master debater. And I like old jokes. Also, are we really going to have an internet debate with a guy named "centrist party", whose whole party isn't actually in the political "center"? That aside, I've learned not to seriously argue politics here. It always ends in frustration, and not the good, sexy kind.
