No it's called selective reading. Notice how he said it was the thinnest iphone they ever made not the thinnest smartphone ever made. Apple typically doesn't compare itself with other companies products.

Do you or did you work for a cellular carrier? I have;)

So I doubt you have had as much experience as I've had. I also deal with the public of all types so I hear and see many reasons why people switch from one phone to another.

Just to be clear on my point here:

Android = top notch and cutting edge hardware, the OS is a personal preference but the apps are subpar.
iPhone = the OS is a personal choice but the apps are the best that's available on a phone (in general) and the hardware is typically behind that of androids except for usually 1 or 2 features.
Windows phone 7 = the OS is a personal choice, the apps are lacking both in quantity and quality, the hardware is typically behind android and sometimes better than the iPhone.

Oh good. We can all get along. :)

All I know is that my family members stop bothering me about their stupid phones because I pretend not to know anything about their iphones. Where in reality, you use one, you essentially use them all.

Except windows phone. I won one in a contest, and turned it on (crappy LG) and I'm like "yeah...okay", and then put it back in the box and made $150 or something on it. :)

It all very much comes down to personal preference, but I hate iSnobs, and I know a few.

    My .02...

    1. The iPhone width is about perfect for me - it fits my hand great. I'm glad they went with a taller screen rather then making it wider. I want something that can easily fit in my pockets. I don't need a phone with a kickstand damn it.
    2. Granted I haven't personally handled every Android phone out there, but all the ones I have handled have felt second rate to the iPhone in terms of materials, and fit/finish. The iPhone is really well engineered.
    3. On my phone I don't want to dick around with loading different roms, etc. I'm willing to do that on a tablet, and certainly on my PC, but my phone I want to just work.
    4. As much as I hate Apple overall I love my iPhone. I wouldn't buy one of their laptops or desktops, as great as the industrial design is. I do have an iPad, but also have a rooted Kindle Fire, and I'll probably be adding a Nexus 7 shortly.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I still use my phone to place calls more then watch media, play games, etc. Actually if I were to list my phone usage by function it would probably be Email, phone, music, SMS, productivity apps (calendar, travel apps, etc), and last would be media and games. The only time I use the last two is in the bathroom to be perfectly honest...

Also, while the design and most of the features didn't surprise anyone, it looks like the A6 proc is using dual ARM Cortex A15 cores which wasn't expected. I appears to be the first shipping phone with the new ARM cores. Pretty impressive on that front at least.

One other thing - one of the big things that people were disappointed that Apple didn't include in the iPhone 5 is NFC. Personally I'm glad. Using your cellphone to pay for shit just seems like a bad idea to me. Like, really bad. I'm generally not paranoid, but putting your credit card information on a persistently internet connected device seems like a recipe for disaster. Once again, maybe I'm just old fashioned.

I am bummed they didn't include wireless charging though. That would have been sweet.

This is the reasoning I'm leaning towards a 5 as my upgrade right now. I figure I'll go mess with a S 3 and see how I like it first.

    Huh! Hadn't heard that.

I just found out that the iPhone 5 on Verizon and Sprint can't do voice and data at the same time what the crap? Seriously?

I guess I will stick with my Android phone.

That's a carrier limitation not a phone limitation. Once Verizon goes to an all LTE network they will be able to use voice and data at the same time (they could do it now but the additional time and resources would take away from their LTE roll out).

In other news: when I plan on getting the iPhone 5 I'll be getting it on cricket:D

$25 for 300 minutes (I use maybe 60 a month), unlimited text, unlimited data (2GB throttling), it's in sprints network which may not have the fastest data speeds it's not that important to me since I mostly use wifi.

Z0mg you guyz are buying the new iPhone? Your all faggots!!! Lollllllz I'm so fucking 1337, android for lyfe!!!11!!

..... Is pretty much what I'm seeing everywhere on the net at the moment. Here's an idea, how about you go buy the phone of your personal choice and enjoy it. Android users are becoming just as annoying as the so called "iSnobs".

I disagree, android fanboys surpassed the iPhone fanboys about two years ago in annoyance factor.

Checked out the S3 at the Sprint store on site. It's a neat phone but not quite neat enough to pull me from the iOS ecosystem (hooray stickiness). I do like the larger screen but it's too big and I was having trouble typing with one hand (no I wasn't influenced by apple's sales pitch).

I don't understand anyone who says they find it hard to type on the S3, you hold it in one hand and type with the other.
With swype as well it's the best phone I've ever used for typing and I've had a couple different iphones.

I don't either, maybe i just have large hands, but 90% of the time I use the voice input to enter text. It is almost flawless on ICS compared to honeycomb and GB, sounds like it will be even better when JB drops with Google now.

I have bigger hands than most of my friends so the S3 was a good buy for me.

Normally, I type with two hands on the keyboard or use voice input.

    SwiftKey rocks.
