Think I'll nap after my grave tonight so I can watch the liveblogging at 10am PDT. Although, still not sure whether to get one or *gasp* a S3, Note 2 or Moto Maxxxxxx HD ONE THOUSAND.
    Sparky says thanks for this.

There's no way it'll have the same CPU. I just hope the Dev Team et al can find an exploit for an untethered jailbreak. Might have to hold off getting one to wait and see.

I'm going to watch the live blog on engadget while at work, just so I can laugh at how pathetic it is. :)

What time is it, I'd like to watch it and laugh as well, in other news, Samsung is going to sue apple for "stealing" it's patented LTE technology.

Apple is well on it's way to be the next blackberry.

Get the S3, I have 2, they're great! the note2 might be too big for my tastes.

They aren't doing a livestream so you'll have to do a liveblog like macrumors, gdgt or engadget. The event starts at 10 am PDT, which I'm just staying up for because rain and a cop shooting means it took forever getting home from work, weeeeeeeeeeeee.

I think that the iPod touch will get a bump up in screen size as well as 3g service to compete with the sony I think it will probably get the iPhone screen size which is slightly bigger but probably more colorful than the sony screen.

The iPhone will probably also get a screen size bump with the usually other bumps faster processor, LTE, new connector for thunderbolt. Maybe some new native apps as well. Actually the software should be what is most interesting in this.

What We Want in the iPhone 5

    1.A larger screen.
    2. Higher Resolution Screen
    3. Pretty much all the stuff I predicted it will already have.

What I want perrsonally is a phone that I don't feel like is going to slip out of my hand and break into a million pieces.

I bought the S3 months ago and love it. So easy to tinker with. Just wish that the JB roms for it had the S3 camera software. :-( It would make it THAT much better.

Has apple fallen behind the curve compared to the rest of the world of smartphones? Yes (except compared to RIM).

Does Apple need to keep up with everyone else? No. They just need to answer the calls of 400+ million apple-ites out there that said:
    -We want a bigger screen
    -We want LTE
    -We want better resolution

Will it be a big seller? Yes but only to those individuals that are so deeply indebted to apple (ie. souls) that they have no choice but to get one.

As someone who has used a multitude of phones and their various OS's I can say that hardware isn't everything. Software is. It's why windows dominated for so many years, they not only had a better OS but, more importantly, they had a better eco system (more third party apps in particular). When everyone was new here the talk about apple and it's OS was a lack of apps. And to further prove my point, Linux, which has been around for years in various user friendly formats and supported more hardware than macs and almost as much hardware as windows machines, add to that the fact that Linux could be had for free and yet where is linux's market share? Why? Lack of apps.

While android does have a ton of apps it is still severely lacking (games would probably be the biggest area) and the apps they do have (generally speaking) are of lessor quality compared to iOS apps.

You guys are the Linux users of the mobile world while everyone else is becoming the windows users of the mobile world.

Having said that, android is garbage, it's got the hardware and that's it.

Windows phone 7 is a real competitor OS wise but again, it lacks the apps.

    Black berry is dead.

Your partially right here. Yes. Apple does have better apps, better developer base, they should, the iOS has been around for an extra 3 years. Do I believe it will last, no. Android phones are outselling iOS 3 to 1, there are more android devices in use that iOS, much more (something like 18% iOS and 64% android). Developers can't ignore that, they would be stupid to.

Doesn't this seem all too familiar? Remember in the mid 80's when a company called Apple Computer released the first GUI based SYSTEM Software, made it only available on their hardware, the Macintosh. tightly regulated the software developed for their operating system. The a company called Microsoft came along, Who decided to make an OS that would work a many different manufacturers hardware platforms, giving developers free reign to make any kind of software they wanted. Remember when Apple computer sued Microsoft for patent infringement (unsuccessfully). Well we all know how well that worked out for mac. Is history repeating itself?

Samsung even warn't apple not to release a LTE phone. I wouldn't mark it as impossible that they would have to disable it, hell apple has been making samsung and HTC disable features.

When you talk on the phone how do you put it in your pocket?

I know I don't turn it around so that the top is facing up, do you?

Hmm...the last android phone I used was the htc one x and I used it for two days before wanting to go back to my Nokia lumia. It was an improvement over previous android phones and it felt solid and I loved the screen and it had a sweet camera too. However, web browsing still sucked (formatting issues), apps still sucked and the email system is garbage.

Before that I used the GS3 but I couldn't stand the screen. Before that I used an lg nitro which was nice but the battery and email and apps still sucked.

I've used the torch 9800 which was nice, other than form factor but the lack of apps was disappointing.

And that's just the phones I've used in the last year, does that qualify me?

About as much as it qualifies me to be an Apple Genius.

It sounds like you're picky and stuck in your ways. Do you tell the kids to get off your lawn too? ;-)

I have a GS3 and love it. I had a SGS and loved it. In fact, my kid now uses it to play games and he loves it.

I've played with iPhone, nokias, crackberries...probably as much as you've played with other phones. I think Google has it right and Android is a solid performer.

    I guess time will tell.
