Obviously WoW is addicting and it costs $15/month. What games out there that are similar to WoW but don't have a monthly fee? They don't have to be a MMO, they can just be a single player game as well.

The Diablo II thread got me thinking about this. I'll probably get some gift cards this Christmas so might pick up some games.

I'm having a ton of fun with Diablo II.

I do miss WoW but I just can't play that game anymore.. It's too addicting and it's caused me a lot of "RL" problems.

You make it sound like a bad thing.

First of all, you should have a DS.

Secondly, you should have Contra 4.

    Thirdly, 'nuff said.

Sorry to hear that. You can always steal a DS. Shouldn't be too hard. You're bound to walk by a kid playing one somewhere :)

I've been playing Hellgate: London. I think Lord Kain has been also. You pay for the disk and you can either choose to play in "Free" mode or become a member for $10/month. Both types of players can play and interact with one another, you'll just be missing out on some cool content.

Do a lot of people play HG: London? So far the reaction has either been silent or piss poor :(

Maybe I should just splurge and buy it.

ya I'm "getting" starcraft, warcraft 3, and dialo 2 right now. I'm looking forward to playing them. Once I get some gift cards for christmas, I'll probably buy them so I can play them online.

Is Guild Wars any good? I heard it was hard to go from WoW to Guild Wars though.

    It is.

I went from GW to WoW and it was amazing. Basically, everything in GW is instanced.

    No monthly fee, he said.

Anyways, after watching a review for The Witcher, it definitely looks worth checking out. Not sure if you're computer is up to the task or not though. I just played through Fable not that long ago because I finally had a computer capable of playing it, and I thought it was a great game!

That'll never work! The rules keep changing, except the main one; you never win! :D

I don't know that there really is a replacement for WoW. It kind of took over as the quintessential MMORPG. None of the others really measure up. For non-MMO RPG play, there are plenty of fun RPGs, like the action ones: Diablo II and Sacred. Hellgate will be in this category, if they ever fix the stupid bugs. Then there's KOTOR types, of which Mass Effect is the most popular right now.

For MMOs, there's WoW, then all the others. Everquest 3, Guild Wars (if you can call this an RPG...), Final Fantasy XI...

lol the woman joke totally went over my head. I already have a woman. I live with my g/f and have been with her for almost 2 years. But I still need my own fun.
