Never noticed bots until I rolled a warrior and scout and see them all over the starting zone. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I can't bot it doesn't feel right.
RPG makers should just give in to the inevitable and build the bots right into their game, so they'll at least have SOME control over it!
I'd usually be right there with you and a week ago I would have said the same thing but since it seems to be acceptable in Aion I'm considering getting some bot programs to try out.
I looked around for a few days before deciding on "MMO VIPER". It's 4.95 a month, the program authenticates that you are a paying member every time you start it, so you need to stay subscribed. The other bots seemed shady, didn't trust how many different size files existed for the same bot. Really easy to setup and customize. I'm still working some bugs out, occasionally it will stop and I get logged out from inactivity, or won't run the waypoints right. But overall, it's a lot better than grinding it out yourself. I play borderlands while it grinds.
I don't wish harm on anybody's account here, but I hope NCSoft US takes care of bots like they do in Korea. China's another story because it's not run by NCSoft over there, but in Korea they give twice monthly updates telling how many bots are banned and other info. If NCSoft here in the US follows Korea, we'll be in much better shape. We do not need threads on Bots every 4 days! - AionSource.com
Botting to sell in game items and money is the problem, I agree. But why should the casual player who wants to remain competitive be punished too? I know it is hard to differentiate these days but even so, I like to play MMO's but the time sink they are is the only drawback, so I bot where possible.
Everything about an MMO is a timesink. Whether you bot to end-game or not, once you get there you have a timesink. PvP takes time, farming mats for gear takes time, raiding takes time, fortress sieges take time. If you don't have enough time to play the game now, then what are you going to do later? I don't agree with bots. Ever. They're against the rules, so anybody that bots gains an unfair advantage to those who actually play the game and not let some program level for them. As I said before, I hope nobody on this forum gets banned for botting, but I won't feel bad if you do.
You are spending $5 on top of the $15 a month fee to NOT play a game? I don't like bots, but honestly I don't care too much about them since I am not playing (if I were I would be furious). I think it is asinine to pay money, monthly..., to run a bot. Thats just dumb.
They've already done a massive IP ban to stop it, but you can't do anything about them using canadian or US proxies.
I invented a new game recently. I find Gladiator bots and start dragging extra mobs over to them just in time for them to AoE. When the first mob gets to him I mark down a 1 on a scoreboard and start a stopwatch. I then drag a 2nd mob, then a third, then wait to see how long they survive. I think I'm going to start a betting game. Kind of like a Chicken Fight, except your betting on how long the bot survives before it dies like a retard because they don't run.
There's nothing more annoying than a high level character played by someone who doesn't know how to play said character. Not saying YOU don't know how to play your character, but unless you put in the time and effort yourself, build your character yourself, quest, grind, learn yourself, you won't be as good playing your character as you could be end game. At least that has been my experience. I hate bots.
Well, I never see or hear from other tweak members but I'm still playing. I'm just taking my time, I have a 35 chanter and 30 templar now.
I'm still playing too. Server has dropped off a bit but not as much as I'd thought. The future of Aion stuff looks pretty awesome.
NCSoft has banned 27,000 bots/kinah buyers/sellers since monday! http://na.aiononline.com/forums/general/view?articleID=9140 http://twitter.com/aion_ayase/statuses/6051965896 The Twitter feed is from Ayase, a community manager that works for NCWest.
It will take awhile longer to deal with the bot problem since NCsoft allowed the bot infestation to get so bad. I still play but need to find a larger more active guild.
Seven, don't let Darkest Hour hold you back. I know our legion is small and we need to go on a recruiting drive, but the hardest part is that all of the legion leaders are on really weird schedules and it's hard to trust random people with access to the legion warehouse which limits who wants to join us. If you really want to play more with a larger legion, you could try getting in with Deity or Imitatio Dei, both are large legions with Imitatio Dei being the #1 legion on our server and Deity is growing very nicely. I've been limited on my play schedule because of the holiday season so it's getting harder to get the legion to expand. For every 10 people we pull in, 5 leave within a day, 3 within the next few days, and the last 2 seem to just quit the game altogether. Maybe one day Darkest Hour will be a competitive legion, but for the time being there isn't much I can do to help it.
Another 26k bots banned this morning. http://www.aionsource.com/forum/new...-bot-extermination-continues.html#post1856491
