I just got an OB key, unfortunately I went the FP sub route but it was cheaper than buying the game and finding I didn't want to ya know. How many here are going to be playing in the OB? How often do you have time to play and what times by chance? I work graveyard 11pm-7am PST so pretty much any time during the day I could play realistically. I have Tues, Wed and potentially Thurs off.
It may be stupid to you, but I can spend $6 for a week of play testing to see if I want to actually invest in the game or the other two options are to not play it at all or drop $50 on it and hope for the best. I played the chinese open beta for a few days and enjoyed it, but wanted to try an american event.
I've actually been a fileplanet subscriber for awhile now and I'd say that it's worth it. But only because I beta test a lot of games and never buy the final product. It prevents me from just impulse buying the final version and then never playing it again after a week.
As much as I didn't mean that to be offensive, it's just silly the notion that you have to pay in order to help them fine tune their server. I suppose I really wouldn't have a problem with it if they'd just stop calling it a beta test.
Well yeah, it is dumb to have to pay, and the fact that they call it an open beta but it really isn't. I can understand getting precedence for preordering or whatever in beta's, an open beta should be open to all and at no cost.
Yes it's pretty lame that you have to pay $6 to "beta test" the game, but I just look at it like this: Go spend $60 on a brand new game and play through it in a couple of days (most games coming out in recent memory have 20 hours or less gameplay) or pay $6 to play a game for 1 week and clock in as many hours as you want. I'll be playing the OB, as long as they get the Win 7 issues fixed (some people can't play at all while others have no issues). Hopefully I'm not one to be affected. I'll be finishing work on the 8th (temp job) so I'll probably be on the entire week during the day and all night.
Is there going to be multiple servers or just one US server? Would be cool to play with some of you guys here, though I have a group at another forum I want to play with heh.
For the closed beta's there were 6 US servers available, and I assume they'll have at least those 6 available, possibly more. Generally I play on the Nezekan server, simply because it was pretty low population during the previous beta's.
Seems any major website related to Aion is being beat to hell right now. Aion Online (official site) won't load, Server Status page won't load, and neither will Aion Source. The armory is working fine though.
I received the same error. NCSoft is probably still loading servers so they haven't set any accounts to active yet.
What server are you planning on going on? The other group I am planning on playing with is going on a server that starts with a V. You playing with anyone else?
Sorry, been running errands. I'm playing on the Nezekan server, not too much lag for me, my brother or my buddy. It's kind of hit or miss for lag though, my brother was lagging earlier while I wasn't, and our computers are literally 3 feet apart using the same wireless router.
Just a wireless router, I average 1 ms ping times to my router through my Wireless N card, I see no problems with it. It's a Cable connection to the outside world.
I've not had issues with wireless, but I guess my pc is wired to the router haha. As far as Aion, the lag was bad for people but I really didn't notice surprisingly. Was at 500ms ping or so and playing didn't feel bad.
My brother was at 3300 ping and my buddy was at 1200-1400 ping, and a change to their graphics options fixed both of their problems. Turn off Fixed FPS, set all graphical sliders to 1 notch below max (i.e. 1-2-3-4-5, set it to 4) hit apply, turn Fixed FPS on, apply, restart game. I have no idea if it was just a coincidence or what, but BOTH of them stopped lagging completely when they changed it. They had both restarted their games dozens of times to try to fix the lag, but changing the graphics options actually helped. My brother went from 3300 down to 350, and my buddy went from 1200 to 400. *edit* The reason I had them change their options like that was because I was having no lag at all and that's how my graphics options were. So I guess you could say that 3 systems resolved their lag by using those graphics settings.
What are your system specs? I haven't had any lag that is noticeable. Intel Q9400 oced 4GB ram ATI 4870 1GB Runs 1680x1050 everything maxed + 8x aa just fine.
My specs are Core 2 Duo 2.6 ghz dual core 2 gig of ram nVidia 8800 GTS My brother has Phenom x2 Black Edition quad core 2 gigs of ram nVidia 275 GTX And my buddy has intel Quad core 2.4 Ghz 16 gigs of ram nVidia 260 GTX. It could just be pure coincidence that changing their graphics options helped, or it could be related to nVidia cards? I dunno.
I can't tell you where the lag is coming from, because not everyone experiences it, no matter what area you are in or what you are doing. Hopefully they have it fixed asap, but especially before launch. If it continues through OB it will be unplayable for most people.
