On torrent, anyways. I've only watched like 2 minutes of it so far, but I've heard decent reviews. Well, sorta. I heard that it's just kickass fight scenes and fanservice with no real plot. But who was expecting more than that?

It should be up on most major torrent sites.

I got the japanese one without subs, and then got a sub file and got codecs so it combines the two files. I actually prefer this, because even if the movie you download is compressed to the size of a postage stamp the subs are crystal clear.

So I'm guessing the US version will be the same as Jap version, just including US sub titles?

This is one of those movies that will make SO much more sense, if you've played FFVII first. Lot's of in-references and in-charactors, and plot ties to the game. Folks who haven't played the game are going to have a mighty different opinion of this movie than those who have played it.

I'll wait for the official US release, myself.

Oh, and as long as you don't think of it as Final Fantasy, the Spirits Within movie was kind of good, in a depressing way.

I was... torn on it. I was geeking out over the random name drops and fan service like everyone else, but I was also sort of dissapointed. There's not really like... any plot whatsoever. I probably would have got the same effect out of it even if I didn't even have the subtitles. Seriously, I'm reading the subtitle file right now (and correcting some minor errors), and like 90% or more of it is one-liners like "That all you got?" "OOooo you're stronger now" etc etc.

I'm going to get hanged for saying anything negative about it... I just really, really wish they would have stopped backflipping through rings of fire for a solid 5 minutes. Not to say I didn't love the fight scenes and fanservice, it's just like... it'd be nice if there was a plot, y'know? I've even read a plot FAQ on gamefaqs to get 100% clarity on the storyline of FF7, and there was still times when I'd blink and then not know what the fuck was going on.

    ---

And scoob, if you still haven't found a torrent PM me

I wouldn't count on the fidelity of those subtitles, since they were likely written by geeks, either with imperfect understanding of Japanese or imperfect understanding of English, or just a desire to speak L33T...

I tried VLC player. All that happened was the sound got beyond fucked up.

What you do is you download a subtitle file and put it in the same directory, then just play the movie in WMP and it should work, if you installed VLC
