Pure and simple!
I've never read anything that has influenced my attitude towards abortion, so I think this "debate" is pointless. I am a father of two and love children very much, and I believe that adoption should be the first choice for unwanted children. That said, if the choice is for some ghetto slut to have 7 kids that I'm paying for while she smokes crack and cocks (to pay for the crack) my vote is for abortion. But then again, I'm for forced sterilization under certain circumstances, so I'm probably not a good person to ask... aranoid:
00kilo, why not set teh time of it being a life, the same way we say something "isnt life" ie, the mass of cells is a seperate human when it has a heartbeat(its own) and brainwaves.
makes sense, for soewmthing to diue, its heart has to stop pumping blood and that brain has gotta be workin (or at least had to have been working at some point)
but until then, its still just a buncha cells in teh body
I'm pro choice.
Just like with gay marriage, I could care less what another person does just as long as it does not affect me. For abortions that means, as long as I, the tax payer, am not paying for it then I don't care what you do.
As far as how late one should be allowed to have an abortion, I'm not sure if there is an exact point other than if the baby were to be had right then and had a chance of living then it's too late for the abortion.
(i was away for a day or two so i just was reading the replies)
yes....there are thousands of parents out there who would love to adopt a child right from birth...so basically the real mother never meets the child.
and about women getting raped? i totally agree that they shouljd be allowed to do whatever is best for their situation if that should occur...but the numbers of women becoming pregnant after rape are SOO low...ill show u the stats sheet that people gave out in my class...ill take a picture of it... h/o
Abortion in the United States - Statistics
· There have been over 43 million abortions since 1973.
· The annual number of abortions went from 744,600 in the
first year of legalization, to a high of over 1.6 million in
1990. In 1997, there were 1,312,990.
· There were nearly 3,600 abortions per day in 2000, 149 per
hour, about one every 24 seconds.
· For every 1,000 live births, there were 306 abortions in 1997.
· There were more that 140,000 second and third trimester
abortions in 2000.
· In 2000, more children died from abortion than Americans
died in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World Wars I
and II, the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf Wars combined.
· A survey of women seeking abortions indicated that only 7%
of women cited typical “hard cases” (rape, incest, or some
health concern with either the baby or the mother) as the
primary reason they were seeking abortion.
· A June, 1999 Wirthlin Poll found that 62% of respondents
support legal abortion in only three or fewer circumstances:
when the pregnancy results from rape or incest, or when it
threatens the life of the mother.
· At an average cost of $372, the abortion business is a $400
million a year industry.
· Nearly half of all abortions are obtained by women who
have already had at least one abortion. In 1994 and 1995,
women who had already had 3 or more abortions obtained
7%, or nearly 100,000, abortions each year.

This topic has been brought up many times on T3D and this time around there have been many good posts.
Claim: "It's my body."
Answer: A woman's body does not have two beating hearts, two blood types, two heads, four eyes, four arms, and four legs. A pregnant woman and her baby have all this and more. And what about when she's pregnant with a male baby? That's not her body . . . it's a unique, baby boy growing in her womb.
Claim: "It's only a fetus."
Answer: FACT: A fetus is a human being..... Fetus -- literally meaning "little one" in Latin -- refers to the pre-born baby after eight week's gestation. Webster's Dictionary says a fetus has, "passed the early stages of development and attained the basic final form prior to parturition (birth)." Some people seem to have forgotten they once lived and grew in the womb as a "fetus." Would it have been okay if they had been aborted when they were "only a fetus?"
Claim: "Freedom of Choice" - It's a woman's "right to choose!"
Answer: How can anyone claim they have the "freedom" or "right" to kill an innocent baby? The only "choice" in abortion is between a dead baby and a live baby. Furthermore, advocates who defend this "choice" are not consistent. Why is it only in the case of abortion they argue that "choice" should be absolute? Using the same rationale, wouldn't people have the right to "choose" to practice prostitution? Humane societies don't tell people they have a "Freedom of Choice" to kill their own children. There are right choices and wrong choices. In recent history, millions of innocent people died because of terribly wrong choices which slave owners and Nazis thought they had a "right" to make. Terrible choices have led to dead slaves, dead Jews, and dead babies.
It's hard to believe that this statement is true. In one year, over 1,546,354 abortions took place? Woah.
Add all of the abortions that have taken place since 1973, and then figure at least a kid or two each for them, and in many cases kids of those kids and you can imagine how many unwanted people there would be clogging our roads and justice system. Let's be clear about this people, the vast number of abortions occur in low income, low IQ, high crime, and high drug use "families". It stinks, but in a way it's very Darwinistic...
