My ex-girlfriend used that size, just because no on in the house knew how to change it, LOL.

But, I have mine all the way up to 1600x1200.

    1280*1024 in here

1024*768 is the lowest I'll go

Though 800*600 can be useful on a 17' monitor for ppl with vision problems, the elderly, etc

I do, because my old (edit: 15 inch CRT) monitor only goes up to 800x600 with any sort of acceptable framerate. 1024x768@60hz "Hertz" my eyes.

I think my parents WERE when they still had a 17" monitor (for above stated vision reasons). I sold them my 21" Sony Trinitron and I think they went up to 1024x768.

1024x768@85 on my 17" monitor. Anything above that is uncomfortably small for me.

    1280x1024 @ 85Hz here.

I keep track of the screen resolutions' of Primo visitors.

1024x768 accounts for the most at 38%

    1280x1024 is 33%

    1600x1200 is 12%

800x600 IS TIED with 1920x1200 at about 4%

I think it's dumb to try to build a site to account for 800x600, but as you can see, 1024x768 is key. Hell, even though I run in 1280x1024, I always keep my browser screen windowed to about that size.

Everything I do is at 1280x1024. Perfect resolution. I used to be a 1024x768 fanboy.

    1024x768 @ 85Hz

Any lower on the refresh rate, and it hurts my eyes, hard to focus etc.

I read that the human eye can't tell the difference abouve 60Hz, but i sure can.

i actually use 800x600, but I like to only look at 1 thing at a time on my screen. It's nice to be able to sit way back, relax and see big ass text so it doesn't hurt my eyes. I'm not on my personal computer too much, and my work PC has 1024x768 as standard. You'd be surprised, a lot of ppl still use 800x600.

800x600 is the "safe bet" for web design. 1024x768 has more or less become the new default over the years due to the rise of LCD panels.

    1280x1024.

And no I couldn't imagine 800x600 nowdays, but you do still see it with older people. They love how big everything is.
