So I got the 3 lights of death finally. I'm in the process of sending it back and just waiting on MS to send me the email but I was curious about the hard drive-- can I just take it out before sending it back?

I'm assuming I can just take the drive out but it really doesn't say in any great detail.

They don't want the hard drive, the console is the defective unit. The box will come with instructions, but unless your HDD is why you're getting the RROD, they'll tell you to send the console back w/o any peripherals.

yea i had the 3 LOD and i took off my hard drive. Hopefully you will get your system back before halo 3 comes out. But if i recall it took around 6-8 weeks for it to come back. Such a fucking hassle.

Anyone know where I need to ship it (or how to find out)? I sent the request via email and the status says it's waiting for my device...except it never told me where to ship it to.

They probably sent you a box and that's why it says waiting for device. It's all pre-paid self addressed UPS stuff so just give them a few days to get the box to you.
