So me an my girlfriend are trying to plan a Holiday and are trying to figure where to go. Our time span is kind of limited; we only have between August 10th and August 15th, and further, our locations make it somewhat more complicated. I'm in New York, she's in California.

We've been toying with the idea of each flying somewhere to meet up, or alternatively, of one of us flying cross country to meet the other one, and then driving somewhere.

So that being said, anyone have any suggestions on places to go? I was thinking maybe New England or something like that.... but if anyone knows of any cities that are direct flights from the coasts and lots of fun to see that'd be cool too.

    Any suggestions are appreciated...

Where in NY and where in CA?

I would say one of you come to one or the other to keep the costs down. That's the logical solution but not very romantic.

    Romantic costs money.

The Mile High is in the middle! Hit up the state parks, white water rapids, Denver has an alright downtown scene, go through Vail, Breck, Aspen, lots of breweries to visit and tour, etc.

I have no idea if you both have your passports or not, so this idea may be no good. But.... she could fly to where you are, and the two of you could drive upstate to Niagra Falls. Spend a day or two on the NY side, and then a day or two over on the Canadian side. Stay in a hotel or, if you'd prefer, you could camp. There should be some good hiking to do. Maybe you guys could pack a nice picnic one day.

You would probably have to do the driving to go up there though, the flight from Cali to NY is a long one and she'll probably be tired.

San Fran and NYC. I think we're going to do the one flies to the other coast thing.

@Smersh, I priced denver, but its quite expensive, and we're really aiming REAL cheap here. Damn last minute stuff is expensive.

@Annadora - This actually sounds quite feasible; decently cheap too if we camp. Thanks!

    Any other ideas appreciated y'all.

If you go the other way around and you fly to her, there's incredible camping, hiking, views, etc in Monterey and the red woods. Easy to do cheaply.

San Fran and NYC? Both on I-80. You both start driving, and when you meet up, this is where you stay. Granted it will probably be some meth town in Nebraska or Iowa, but damn is that romantic.
