I don't think it is, but, here's what I want to do.

I'd like to connect my landline to my laptop, and when I get a call, for it to be routed through bluetooth to my mobile.

I haven't had any luck using my phone as a headset much less this. I'm interested in 'free' solutions by the way. Anyone know of any apps? The usual OSS places don't turn up anything (freshmeat, sourceforge).

    Thanks.

It would work but I don't know how you would switch it automatically. Make sure you have a good data plan for your cell phone.

you'd need a phone to support something like that, I imagine it would be the hardest part...

Basically, you're trying to turn your cellphone into a portable phone through your computer's bluetooth? We just have a portable phone, which cost a whopping $35.00

What you need is some sort of app that controls the phone line via the computer, using input/output from your bluetooth phone as a remote peripheral, in addition to voice communication, right? I've never heard of anything like that, but it sounds like it ought to be possible. The app should have a built in voicemail feature, so that you can at least get a message when your bluetooth is out of range or turned off.

Hold on, I'm either not following you or everyone is thinking of something different.

So you want your landline calls to go through your cell phone via bluetooth?

If so I think this is what you are looking for.

ivwshane: That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thanks for the pointer.

I've tried many times to look for a way to make my phone act like a headset but no luck.

...and yes, I know portable phones aren't that expensive, but that's not the point 8)

Thanks for all the replies. I'll bump the thread if I make some more progress (in case anyone is interested).
