I still check in every once in a while! Been working a lot here lately. Right now, I'm going to a class to get my 100 ton Coast Guard Captain's License. I'm running a lot of boats for Norfolk Naval Station, which has been keeping me busy. But, this stuff is too fun to slow down!

At 100 tonnes, won't that captain's license be too heavy to carry? ;)

Does anyone know how Whiskas is doing? He's not posted anything in a while, so I'm feeling a bit worried...

I'm going through the class at Mid Atlantic Maritime Academy right now. This shit is so insane. So much information in such a short time. I figured that I will go ahead and get my AB license as well for doing deck work. I'm taking the class Friday to get my towing endorsement do start doing side work with SeaTow or TowBoatUS. This should be a fun adventure

As with Will, It's insanely busy. That......and there's not much to see here any more. I'll stop by, see that there hasn't been anything happening here and move on.

I did pass all of my classes and just gotta compile my documents and file for my 100 ton Masters license. I'm so freaking happy.

I went ahead and celebrated by getting some more ink done to build more of my half sleeve.

    Life's good!

    Congrats!

So, er, uh, just how big IS a 100-ton boat?

It can be a pretty big boat. There are a few 150 foot long dinner cruise boats here locally that run right at 100 tons. It's bigger than I should ever really need.

    And thank you so much!

I still don't see how you can lug around a license that weighs that much, but CONGRATS! ;)

:driving: They say it's not the size of the ship but the motion of the ocean. They must be wrong.

Fun! I'd love to work a few years and upgrade my license to a 1600 ton in a few years. Then I could start playing with the really big boats.

You really should get your Captain's License while you are in. It's easy to pass the course, and you can log your Sea time before losing track of your old CO's. Then you could get paid real money for doing what you do, whenever you get out or retire.

I have 3 days left on AD.

I was only the helmsman for a hour or so while the OOD was busy because the autopilot was OOC.

Damn, I forgot you were so close to being free again! Great job on keeping your nose clean. What're you planning on doing after you get out?
