1 1/4 roughly 80 wall (they said it was 65 wall). I'm using a full length strip of 3/16 x 2" to mount the basket. It's secured to the seven stock roof rack bolts and three 3/8 bolts with bigass fender washers on the other side. Should work decent. Everything's pretty much done. Just need to weld it all together, and run wiring for lights. Oh yeah, and weld tabs for the lights once they show up. EDIT: Wiskas, just Krylon. Nothing fancy.
thats some heavy duty steal for a roof rack lol ....might as well extend some legs through the roof and turn it into a roll bar as well. looks great either way!

So, I ran into some problems with the "new" harley I bought. Was a few blocks from home and the front head started a squeaking / squealing noise. So, I tore it apart this morning. Can't definitely figure out where the sound was coming from. I thought it was the head gasket, but it looked good. The rocker arms seemed tight, and I didn't see any other gaskets that might be fluttering and causing the noise. So, I am going to pull the valves and check the valve guides to make sure everything is smooth and in good shape. Then, reassemble and go from there. Gasket kit should cost me around $100, and I'm hoping to get the bike back together by Tuesday or Wednesday. ~Will Courtier~

If you remember a few pages back I made a side panel with power and whatnot. I ran it with standard automotive 10g wire originally. I reran it with 6g welding wire this time, and I actually loomed it. The plan is to put all the relays for my offroad lights on the back of the panel, run a post for hot and ground wires and put the whole thing on a quick disconnect.
harbor freight heatshrink ftw, hows peel and stick compared to a real deadener in your opinion? how do i crimp/solder anything bigger than 8awg without a vise? and it looks great as always.
As for heatshrink. Use their 'marine' heat shrink, it has glue built in that makes it water proof. The quickroof is the exact same shit as dynamat. Just way fucking cheaper. When I solder big dog shit I use a torch.

Buy this thing. Crimp the terminals with that, if you want to solder them afterwords hold the wire with pliers or visegrips(to hopefully sink some heat out). Hit the end of the terminal with the torch and feed in some solder.
wow way cheaper than a hydro crimper, guess it got that cheap recently? do you hit both sides with the crimp? and can i get away with my cheap harbor freight hammer(s) or do i need a sledgehammer? buying one anyways! thanks chris guess i can always just buy a cheap sledgehammer
I'd have thunk that this critter would have tasted gamier than he did. He didn't drop instantly like all the others I dispatched. Interesting story: I've been crippled for two weeks with a blown-out shoulder and could barely raise my rifle. That and my scope is off by 10" at 70 yards. I must have jarred it in the truck and knocked it off deadeye center. The first shell (remington) was a hang-fire and didn't shoot. With the second round I hit him at the pelvis rather than behind the shoulder while he was on the move. The bullet traveled down the femur and exited out the knee. It hit the femoral artery, thus it was a kill shot. Rather than riddle the buck with another meat stealing shot, I ran him down and tackled him. Picture an old fart doing one of those rodeo styled bulldogging things only with a buck rather than a calf. I grabbed those antlers and whacked that throat open in a single move. That way I could still say: "one shot, one kill".....sorta. That buck had his nose so far up a doe in heat's ass that he didn't even know he was mortally wounded. That fuckin horndawg. I had to field dress it with only using my left arm and hand. My right hand works, but Ican't raise my arm more than a few inches. Anyhow, the heart was great, not all that gamey even though it was pumping adrenaline and testosterone. The tally is 90 lbs meat in the freezer or 45 meals. The spot that he got hit in, only wasted no more than 3 pounds of meat and I ended up with two shoulder roasts whereas I usually waste one with a standard killshot. that and there was absolutely not so much as a spot of blood within 24" of those yummy backstraps. Happy, happy, happy! BTW: I'm planning on making some venison sausage this year. I just bought 8 lbs. of bacon ends to grind up with the venison. Nothing tames down venison better than bacon ends. This fall's game meat tally = 45 meals of red meat (venison) and 20 meals of smoked salmon (courtesy of my brother who loves to fish but hates eating salmon). We will buy other meats like chicken and pork neither of which I can raise due to all the cougars and coyotes that hang around.
Fortunately I have a brother that doesn't like it, but loves fishing for them. Last year I got 80 plus pounds of smoked salmon shipped directly to my front door from Washington State.
