Not sure LA is any better unless you have tons of dollars.

    Yeah...riiiiight. ;):p

Isn't broke ass Cali one of the worst places to live right now? My son moved to Sacramento and he's having a rough time making it. Fortunately he has good room mates.

You able to transfer with your job Torx? Otherwise I wouldn't recommend L.A. Cost of living would blow your mind. Unless you're seriously willing to suck dicks for a living. And even those jobs are in low demand. Two many available mouths, and two few dicks with spare money.

This is something I'd have to agree with. More dicks that want sucking.
I'd seriously recommend Portland over any place in California. The weather sux, but there are a few more jobs and the COL isn't too awefull bad.

I may find myself in LA at some point in the future... we could be an awesome sitcom. Just need to tone down the tin foil and I swear to god if you actually talk like you post (dafuq umadbro?) I will likely murder you :)

Why do you want to move to LA? Just curious of course. You'd be paying out your ass everytime you took a breath, all to live in a huge, sprawling suburbia with lots of problems. Not trying to hate on LA, but for your money you could do better. There has been a mass exodus of people leaving California the past years, people who have lived there their whole lives; that should tell you a little something.

^All of SoCal is expensive unless you want to live 3 hours outside of the city with the KKK desert rats.

My dad has a two bedroom apartment in Santa Clarita (far north end of LA county) and be pays the same (or more by now Im sure) for rent on it as my parents mortgage on their 3500 sq ft house on 5 acres in the affluent ex-burbs of Colorado Springs / Denver.

    fixed just for you ;)

    I actually really like NorCal

LA sucks. Its charm would wear off in about a month IMO. I lived there 6 months and have visited many times in the past 10 years.

You should move to northern CA if you're gonna play the CA life, it just kicks ass here :)

I always wanted to move to a larger city, and finally settled where I am. I now live in a beach house sort of on the outskirts of the bigger city. We are basically in our own little world. Live on a peninsula that is 3-4 blocks wide, and 15-16 blocks long. Know damn near all of my neighbors, and we pretty much take care of each other. Crime isn't an issue (random incidents, but mostly quiet), live the beach life every day, and enjoy warm weather 9 months outta the year. Not too shabby of a deal.

Also, there is always a steady supply of shipyard jobs up this way. A majority of the civilian workers in my area get strung out on drugs, so they are a no go for government contractor jobs. Pretty much anyone that can hold a security clearance and has a decent work ethic can get a good job up this way making good money. Management is downsizing a lot, but there are good jobs for tradesmen up this way.

Will - Would you live in Norfolk if you weren't in the Navy? I did a lot of work down in Norfolk and VA Beach (if you remember- I called Crowebaby one night to meet up with you two when I was down there). Not to say that Richmond is much better but... Norfolk was a pretty downtrodden city. I appraised a bunch of rowhouses and apartment complexes built for seaman and it was horrible. Our servicemen deserve better.
