It isn't the deer part that bothers me about the first pic, it's the in-town part. Yesterday one of my best friends took me to the duck lake he and five other guys own and share. We john-boated and sludged to the rear pond-- totally where the hoot-owls fuck the chickens. I wouldn't mind going a couple times but not enough to pay for the license. He suggested I come with and bring a camera, so I might do that. I'm not good for getting up well before dawn, so who knows.
I figure i'll wait until rifle season at the end of the month. Don't know if i'll stick to just one tag though I've got five big bucks that hang out and a couple dozen does. now that's a real relic. Reminds me of a buddy's .765 we used to go out and shoot. I hunt with: Rem m700 classic in 6mm w/ 3X9 leopold variX. My 7mm mag went to my nephew. It was too much for deer and made more for moose.
Been thinking about getting a Mosin Nagant since you can't beat the price. I've read cleaning all of the cosmoline out of the chamber and bolt assembly can be a bitch. Will you be using corrosive ammo? For hunting been looking for a 7mm-08 Savage.
Yah, I just bought a bunch of stuff to clean the cosmoline today, maybe I'll start cleaning it tomorrow.... And I'm using the surplus ammo so it is corrosive, but honestly I don't think it's a big deal as long as you clean it every time you shoot, and I do that with all my guns already.
Just clean and oil it like every weapon and it'll last. All powder is corrosive as well as fingerprints. It's the amo casings that get really fubar'd from the corrosives. They get all stretched anyways, then add acidity to the mix, cheap brass and a few re-laodings...........you've got dangerous amo. Speaking of reloading, I've got to get busy. I wanted to pack a box for 3000fps/45gr speartips and one for 2400fps/50gr. FMJ. I picked up a licence and tag yesterday and am thinking about seeing if there's any turkey stamps left and unclaimed doe tags for my area. Elk season is coming up, that's where I'll miss the 7mm mag.

It's not irrational to think what way. Some are into it and some aren't but their are hunters who kill for a specific reason and don't eat what they kill and that would be varmint and predator hunters. Overpopulation of prairie dogs, coyotes and wild cat's are bad for livestock, pets and small children.
I'm an animal lover, so unless the kill is going to feed someone or thin a herd that's causing problems I'm against it.
Ugh, I've spent the last 3 hours cleaning guns, and I still have two to go! (my Glock and the new M91/30) I have firearms mostly as a target-shooting hobby. I've never gone hunting, and I don't have much interest in it really. That said, anyone who eats meat ought to kill an animal at least once, as a way to better understand the impact of their dietary choices. I was talking to an older woman who grew up hunting a while back, and she put it this way, that people are so divorced from the food they eat, "If you are going to eat meat, you ought to get a little blood on your hands."
Same here. As a matter of fact I have held at gunpoint two people who poached: just shot an illegal deer and left them. I held them until the game officer showed. I didn't have to draw on them perse', I did however, hold the muzzle of my high powered 30/06 to the fender of their trucks and threaten to blow a hole in their block stranding them 25 miles in the boonies. That reminds me, I need to get my CB installed. There's no cell service in them thar mountains. other than that, I'm ready, weapons cleaned/oiled, 50 rounds reloaded for 3100fps, tags/licences in my pocket. I even dusted out the cabinet: I picked up a couple .22 pellet range pistols for quietly plinking around the house (one each for the wife and I) shooting fun without killing anything but cans: Old OSOK (one shot one kill). I traded out the 4X9 for a 2X7 to hunt the brush with. Seems that 2X is just right for close in.
I've got one more rifle on the way Once that one gets here, next is a new pistol. I'm looking at a .22 1911 style, to work on handgun skills without spending much on ammunition. Then I'll be DONE buying firearms for a while, I swear!
I have a few more to get. I have the hunting needs pretty much covered but would like to get an AR and a 9mm for home/civil protection. I counted up amo, brass, primers and bullets and have 2500 rounds of centerfire. This doesn't include 150 rounds of various size shot shells and 2500 rounds of .22LR. I'd like to add more to the stockpile..............we'll see. I need more .357 brass and HP's. My powder is getting old (7 cans) and I'd like to rotate it out, use what I have for target rounds. Now I'm sure about eating venison this year. I just checked the prune plum tree..................................they stole every single last plum on that tree. them fucks!
I don't have a problem with hunting, it's more the mentality that some people go out pretty much just looking to put down the finest member of the gene pool they can find, just to pop some antlers on their wall to show their hunting buddies.
im against hunting unless for absolute survival. considering this its 2010 and theres a mcdonalds on every corner, i dont see a need for deer/animal hunting unless its fish.
