Shoot, I dunno... people saying that Obama's a secret Muslim and a racist, perhaps? How about this? Homegrown hate groups increase in number - Race & ethnicity- msnbc.com

    I never said that.

Anyway... were there tea parties over Bush's bailout plans? Do people remember the bailouts were planned under Bush? Do people remember the crisis started under Bush? Obama's supposed to take over and make everything better in a year?

    As for the hypocrisy....

This is in response to both tex and MSP

Increasing taxes are a justifiable reason for protesting and all of that, that's not my issue. My issue is that there were no similar protests when Bush was raising our taxes or any of the other crap that administration pulled.

As for your comment tex about Beck, I'm allowed free speech and my own opinion as well. If I couldn't get you to see why I think one group is wrong for doing something while another is ok in this instance then it's a pointless argument.

Bush spent WAY too much money, and for that reason alone I felt betrayed and alienated by the end of his presidency. But what he spent in Iraq (and in total) is a pale comparison to what's going on now. If you're a liberally slanted, big government type, it's probably not a concern. But for a fiscal conservative like myself it's way beyond alarming. Every day I look at my kids and think "You're going to be paying this bullshit off your whole life...", and I sincerely feel that way. Wouldn't you battle against the spending if you felt that way?

And yeah Ivanolo, there's a ton of racism in that crowd. But at least in my circles, my conservative friends who talk about this behind closed doors, I rarely hear Obama slurred racially. He's not the one my colleagues hate, it's Nancy Pelosi. Given the chance I know at least a few that would put a bullet in that woman.

If that's your whole problem with the protests why not just go out and motivate the other lazy hippies? I just don't understand why someone's right to protest (right or wrong) is your biggest hangup on this. If they differ from your POV, so be it, but to complain about what they're talking about is just being just as partisan as anything you've talked about in the past.

But most of our arguments are pointless. They're just a way to pass the time and reinforce our own biases. That and insult people without fear of repercussions. :p

    Who have I insulted?

And if my arguments are pointless then why are people responding to them?

It's called a joke, ivwshane. Did you not see the smiley?

It's pointless to argue about this because we're not getting anything done. Nobody's opinions are gonna change. Like I said, it's a way to pass the time, really.

    EDITED for emphasis.

    Anyone think of this angle?
people are not only concerned about what this current spending/feed ing frenzy spree is going to cost. they are also really pissed and feel betrayed by the last 8 year debaucle. So many people may be showing up that are bipartisan just to say to the powers that be: " we're fucking pissed!!". I hope the protests escalate myself. My pissed-offedness isn't just about the current secrecy and bullshit. It's a cumulative sphyncter factor i own. Stemming from the open betrayal of the last 8 years and compounded with mistrust of a government run amok.
I was told earlier that I'll get called BS on if I post up unverifyable links to info. Well i call BS on that because That was a real double standard. As in: Verify that my shit is unverifyable (AKA: proove me wrong don't just auto discount my info) and to what extent the truth lays in the middle.
There are many, many, many times i wish that i wasn't in tune with the shit most sluff off and pretend doesn't happen. "Oh why didn't I take the blue pill"?

My hang up is not that people don't have the right to protest, it's that they are protesting now and not before.

I mean seriously! Look at the difference from clinton to bush, how can you not be appalled by that?

I know it's pretty damn easy to look at the current projected deficits and blame Obama but does anyone remember where the economy was headed in late October? Does anyone remember that big fuck up? Does anyone remember the the trillion dollar bailout that was passed before Obama took office? Who was protesting then?

I'm glade people are angry with all this spending, I just think it's ridiculous that they put the blame on Obame (most any way) with no mention of the past.

You know what mistawiskas, if this is the people awakening to whats been happening in the past then it's a good thing, even if I think it's misguided.

People need to be critical of government but they also need to be critical of those being critical (such as the media).
I don't think people will start questioning the media any time soon (not to this level anyway) but they are being manipulated and they don't even know it.

You can post whatever graph you want but just like MSP said - the people protesting are the people who probably didn't vote for Obama (some may have) and they have every right to protest. You're angry that these same people didn't protest when Bush went to war, but they agreed with his principles. You should be angry with your own like and not the people protesting.

You should be pissed at your libs for not protesting like the tea parties. I didn't see any mass demonstrations like this years ago.

... and the left walks around boasting how much smarter they are than everyone; much too intelligent to associate with people beneath them.

See, I didn't even have to bring that up. When I do, I get called paranoid.
[:tinfoil:] Believe it or not, there is a reason we are so inundated with the media and television in particular. We have a government that doesn't dazzle with brilliance....it baffles with bullshit. The smokescreens are SOP, the media
in the form of "government media complex" is the smoke.....what it is "screening" is what
we need to worry about.[/:tinfoil: ]

Seriously, look at that graph, do some digging on the healthcare reform legilation and then look at the other matters going before congress and the unpublicized actions taken up by various agancies in our government. This shit is nonpartisan and has nothing to do with left or right sides of the isle. partisanship is meerly a tool used in a divide and conquer stradegy.

Lable me tinfoil all you want, but time and circumstance has brought people on these boards around to say the same things I have in different words.

Who knows, in eight years, we may see where we've been duped "bush style"
on this crap about healthcare. Most the shitties pulled by our government, are wrapped in pretty packages, else nobody would allow it.

Since you brought it up again..
I called you out on it because I could tell right away something didn't sit right with those figures. I clearly didn't just "auto discount" your info otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered to look it up and post the link to factcheck. And I quite clearly did "verify your shit was unverifiable" didn't you even read the link? I read through it point by point and checked out several links in the article as well. The truths and falsehoods of the email are right there for you to read. Feel free to ignore my points or try and put words in my mouth again though.
And you are talking to me about double standards? I guess it's wrong for the government to use "smokescreens and "bullshit" but it's ok if an individual does it for a similar purpose. Can you honestly not see why this bothers me now?

LOL damn you're worse than the 9/11 conspiracy guys they had on Nat'l Geographic the other day.

Experimenter guy: "Thermite couldn't have been used to destroy the towers (test on steel failed)"
Conspiracy guys: "Yeah but super thermite was used and you don't have super thermite to test"

Exp. guy: "It would take months to plant all the bombs (in reference to the towers imploding)
Consp guy: "They were ninjas when planting bombs so nobody noticed"
