U.S. gives Flight 93 site landowners one week to sell | Philadelphia Inquirer | 06/06/2009 An emotional fight over land for Flight 93 memorial - CNN.com I'm going to sound horrible for this. Move forward people, we don't need a 900+ acre park for this. We can't even afford our budget as it is and they want to build a monumental park. Thank you, no. More and more every day I want to move to a different country.
no, that doesn't sound horrible. Eminent Domain is one of the worst abuses of governmental power. It's their land, not the governments. If they don't want to sell it, tough shit. What it amounts to is the government bullying people. If you don't sell your land for what we want, we'll just take it
Get the fuck out of here. Fair market value right now is 25% of what it was a few years ago. Fuck this memorial and fuck the government... not to fucking mention that we're in the middle of a goddamn recession. Why the fuck do we need to waste 50+ million on this when there's so many more important things to spend the money on?
When it comes to questionable spending, people ask "why", the government asks, "why not". It is unfortunate that such circumstances surround the creation of a memorial to the victims.
The principal of 'eminent domain' prooves you never really "own" land here. Oh you obtain the right to pay taxes on it and insure it for liability and loss, but you'll never recieve a "title" on it, only a deed. It's pretty much the biggest scam in the history of mankind.
this shit is rediculous! seizing land that you own, have paid taxes on, and maintained and upkept for years and years.. would be a russian hammer to teh face for these poor landowners.. what kind of deranged fucking government do we have. for that much money they could bury the ~250 people on the nearest island of the crash site.
Actually my next door neighbor's brother owns the farm in which the plane crashed. He owns 600 acres and they only want to take 5 from him for this memorial playground or whatever. He doesn't care because land is so cheap there plus he doesn't even use it for farming anymore he just puts up windmills and lives off the money he gets from them. While I don't agree with eminent domain if the people that live there don't give a shit, neither do I.
The guy at the dealership where I bought my car also does this. I can't remember the exact figure, but it's thousands of dollars per windmill. He still likes selling cars, though....
They tried this imminent domain shit near my office, where they intended to take peoples homes to build a parking garage for a shopping mall. Most were bullied and sold, but 2-3 fought on and ended up getting the right to stay. Forcing the builder to pay handsomely if they wanted to continue. Imminent domain to obtain land for private enterprise is thievery, plain and simple. Anyway, as for this I think it's heavy handed and frankly who gives a shit? I feel for the families but they should be honored with the others that died in 9-11. We don't need another memorial at tax payers and land owners expense.
Proof! Major problems found in war spending - Conflict in Iraq- msnbc.com I get so pissed when i read of this shit. Even though I know it happens, to read it gets my blood boiling.
