i doubt it will ever die. it's has a lot less fans now that WCW and ECW went out of business 7 years ago. And WWE is geared towards kids now. TNA is on now but nobody knows about them and it's been so long since the "good days" of wrestling that a lot of people have moved on.

I am a wrestling fan. Ya, sometimes there are goof ups like that. And a lot of times there are some amazing moves. If you don't like it, don't watch it. If you watch it with the mindset that it's fake, then it will drive you crazy. You watch it like any other show on TV, as entertainment.

Looks more like an Evangelical healing than wrestling.

And I'm Evangelical! And a Healer! (not like that though lol).

Wrestling is like NASCAR and Hee Haw (video for those unfamiliar) - mindless hillbilly entertainment that's aimed squarely at the lowest common denominator.

    YouTube - HEE HAW

i am offended and that's a mass generalization. i'm not a fan of Nascar but I hear Nascar has a pretty damn big fanbase. I'm far from a hillbilly and far from mindless. I just don't get why wrestling is treated any differently than any other show on tv. it's fucking entertainment. that's all. like i said, i could care less if you don't like it. to each their own. but it's insulting to say that the only people watching it are mindless hillbillies.

and Lord Kain, WCW went out of business because when AOL bought Turner (which obviously owned TNT and TBS that WCW was on), they didn't want wrestling. Eric Bishoff of WCW was trying to get a TV deal somewhere else so he would buy WCW and continue it but his TV deal fell through and then Vince from WWE bought them.

I heard on the radio that 80% of Nascar fans are college graduates, the highest for any sport. I don't believe it, but I did hear it :D

BTW - As a mindless hillbilly, I am personally insulted as well. I don't watch cars driving in circles for 4 hours or whatever. Don't be insulted - I am indeed a mindless hillbilly after all y'all :)

You're only offended because you chose to be. Just because it's geared toward the lowest common denominator doesn't mean you fall in that group. No one is calling people stupid for liking it, they're just saying it's marketed to stupid people.

Anyone here read newspapers? IIRC the majority of publications are written so that a sixth grader could understand them. I used to enjoy watching the wrestling programs but after taking my youngest to a show we both lost interest.

When was the last time you saw a NASCAR sticker on on a Jaguar, Mercedes, Porsche...? How about I give you $100 for every one, and you give me $5 for every one I've seen on a dilapidated pickup truck? (checks AppleVacation.com to see where I'm going with your money). :)

i'm going to Raw in October. They are FINALLY coming back to Seattle. I'm not as a big a wrestling fan as I used to be (mainly because most storylines and wrestlers suck now) but it will be fun to go to a live show like that.

and by the way, I'm not REALLY offended. I don't really get offended. I just shrug stuff off. Everybody has their opinions. I'm sure there is something that MSP likes that I think is stupid. We're all different.

what im pissed about is how nascar and wrestling are making its way into the "stereotypical white male". BECAUSE the majority of fans are white males.

    LOL

I used to watch wrestling years ago. Basically got away from it once I realized how dumb it really was.

That shit's just too damned fake for my tastes.

it can be a lot more real than you think. Ya it's scripted and they TRY not to hurt each other but no matter what, injuries are going to happen. You tell me how falling from 7 feet in the air onto the floor is not going to hurt. And some of the moves are legit. Some are for show. I can guarantee you that I could put you in some of the moves and you'd be pretty damn hurt. In the few fights I've gotten in my life, I've used wrestling moves and they were down after one move. Just have to know which ones to use ;-)

and I think the argument that it's "too fake so I won't watch" it is silly. uhhh all shows on tv are fake. it's for entertainment.

Sure, lots of TV shows are fictional, but the main difference here is that this is a purported sporting event. Populated with a lot of 2 dimensional characters and plot. Give me boxing or other fighting leagues any day.
